Margaret's Hope Chest is based in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  They are celebrating four years of giving almost 1000 quilts and comfort to those in need.

Can you donate a quilt?  I love their Wrapped in Hope program - delivering quilts to children whose parents are in prison.

Check out the blog for more details and some beautiful quilt pictures!

Dresses and Shorts for Haiti

Are you an Illinois native?  Come join an afternoon of sewing Pillowcase-to-Dress dresses and T-Shirt-to-Shorts shorts for the children in Haiti on Wednesday, April 13 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Community UMC in Naperville.
Everyone is welcome – no experience in sewing is necessary to serve on this project. You can trace patterns, iron, measure, and cut.  You will need to bring two pillowcases to sew. Additional tools needed include sewing machines, ironing boards and irons, ½” double-fold bias tape (any color), 3/8” and 1” elastic, thread (any color), and trim for the dresses.
For more information or to RSVP, please contact Judy Allen by April 11, and indicate which items you will bring.

Quilt & Kit Ministry

Lutheran World Relief has a Quilt & Kit Ministry that has reached so many worldwide!  They are still assessing how to best help the people of Japan through this ministry.  I say get started on your quilt now and send it off - even if it doesn't go to Japan, there is someone somewhere hoping they can stay warm tonight.

For information about their Mission Quilts, click here.

Look at the blue bar on the right to read about other kits you can put together.

Dress A Girl

My searching has led me to another dresses for girls organization - it's called Dress a Girl Around the World.  They work with Hope For Women and have delivered over 19,000 dresses.

They have links to various patterns, and other information including a list of state reps - maybe there's one near you!
